Feeling Blue After “Le Look Smurfette” Fashion Show

Share

Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the very first Smurfette-inspired fashion runway show at the Metropolitan Pavillion in New York City. I can honestly say that I had an absolutely smurftastic time! The fashions in “Le Look Smurfette” were curated by Lois Sakany and Samia Grand-Pierre of HighSnobette.com. These fashionable ladies teamed up with Junk Food Art House and Caravan Stylist Studios to stage this blue-infused fashion event, which was sponsored by Sony Pictures to promote the highly anticipated theatrical release of “The Smurfs 2” movie this summer.

Described as “Gamine Chic,” the Smurfette-themed collection cleverly combined the Smurfs’ blue, white and gray color palette with inspirations from the movie sequel’s story line, which is set in Paris. Staying true to the futuristic fairytale aesthetic of the Smurfs’ imaginary world, tops were cut in a variety of soft shapes that gave a nod to Smurfette’s rough and tumble yet girlish nature. Other designs included mod dresses, sharp trousers, flip skirts, three-quarter-length cropped jackets and customized cotton tees, all of which paid glorious tribute to Smurfette’s colorful personality and iconic status.

It was a fun night, made all the more glamorous by celebrity sightings of Kelly Killoren Bensimon (“The Real Housewives of New York City”), Stefania Owen (“The Carrie Diaries”) and fierce punk rocker, Eryn Woods. Many thanks to Sony Pictures and Caravan Studios for inviting me to this très magnifique New York Fashion Week event!

A girl could get used to nights like this!
