Olive Loves: FNO Outfits

Okay folks, tomorrow is the big, big day!

I have a few more options for outfits to run by you, all culled from some of the fabulous designers who will be participating alongside me at the FNO event.  I need all my friends out there to help me decide what I should be sporting as host!

Shall it be the “Kate” blouse from Spoon, perhaps? In midnight black with the laser cut-out detailing? Ooh, so slinky and simple and luxe! Maybe I should match this elegant blouse with a classic pair of gold and pearl earrings from BB Jewels?

Top it off with a vibrant red python clutch from Primary NY? Or what about Primary NY’s “Kelly” dress in coral? Maybe to start the evening, then a costume change?

Oh my, it’s very overwhelming folks, to have this much gorgeousness to choose from.

As you might have noticed – yes, yes, yes! I am getting so very, very excited to play dress up and cavort about high in the sky with the beautiful people of the Big Apple.

Stay tuned for more…

Olive Goil: Radarte

Rodarte is the absolutely beautiful brainchild of not one, but two fabulous gals – sisters in fact – whose eye for color and cut and unexpected and matchless looks, has made their fashion line one of the most fascinating in the whole wide world!

Miss Kate and Laura Mulleavy grew up exploring and adventuring from their California home, cutting and pasting and building and wandering through Sierra forests or Big Sur cliffsides. Now all grown up, The Mulleavy’s have conquered the fickle fashionistas and charmed clothes lovers everywhere.

This is a duo that knows a thing or two about glam and glitter and glitz and they have dressed many a bright starlet in their signature designs. But they are also good at cozy knits and amazing shoes and art collaborations that stray far outside the boundaries of ordinary clothing.

Today  the lovely ladies design costumes for operas and uniforms for Olympic athletes, create magical installations in museums and work on books and journals and other sorts of sweet storytelling, which captures their very experimental, very California aesthetic.

Ah California! The Golden State! I have been there many times my friends, and I never grow weary. Ocean, mountain, desert – and of course, the streets of Tinseltown, where I have strutted my stuff time and time again!

If I had my way, my dears, I would be wearing Rodarte, every single day! The fantabulous gowns for the nights when I am belle of the ball, or their pretty, flirty dresses for waving from the dock to my handsome man Popeye, just as he’s sailing back home.

No matter what creations I donned from these endlessly imaginative sisters, I can guarantee you, I’d always be looking both chic and unique!

Olive Loves: ACB Jewelry

As you know, I am a simple girl with simple tastes, happy with my sailor man and my seaside life, but this does not mean that I forgo luxury or beauty. In fact, I am a sucker, dear readers on the world wide web, for a fine piece of jewelry.

I like necklaces, rings, bracelets, and belts – of all sorts. I like them in silver and pearls and sparkling diamonds, rubies and gold and sapphire and emerald. In short, I have the softest spot for anything that drips and shines and can be worn in a ship’s ballroom for midnight rendezvous.

But you know this about me already, don’t you?

Today, I am shouting from the rooftops about an amazing designer of dazzling accouterments – made just for ladies like me, who wish to deck ourselves out like Cleopatra, from time and time… and want to be treated like the queens we are – ALL the time.

Annie Costello Brown, the creative force behind ACB, was trained as painter and it shows – her pieces are lovely and abstract and endlessly imaginative. She works in strong materials like leather and brass and crystal and there is an earthiness to her jewelry, but elegance too.

I am left simply breathless by her designs, and you dear reader, will be too.

Take a look at her work and just see if you can resist.

These incredible pieces make me think of blasted sands and big suns and camel rides towards lost cities.

Pamela is truly a talent, unafraid to adorn with abandon – her work is about strong style and no apologies.
