Behind-the-Scenes of Caravan Stylist Studio’s Style Night Event

On a recent summer evening, I had the pleasure of attending a “Style Night” event hosted by Caravan Stylist Studio at the Carlton Hotel in New York City. It was a night of jewels, vintage styles and rare finds, thanks in large part to Shopbevel and Wiseling.

The scene was relaxed as people browsed the tables and racks of beautifully displayed jewelry, vintage fashions and accessories. Nothing makes me happier than to sift through racks and racks of gorgeous clothing and try on dazzling jewelry, in search of that one piece that speaks to me.

Olive Oyl Gets the “Star” Hair Treatment

A few weeks ago, in an earlier blog post, I asked make-up artist Valerie Star to tell me what hairstyles would be most flattering for the shape of my face and physical features. She offered three suggestions, and then, angel that she is went a step further and sent me these amazing illustrations. Valerie intuitively knows any woman contemplating a change in hairstyle scours magazines for inspiration and ideas. Thanks to Valerie and illustrator Sarah Keokanock, I will have these three go-to styles at the ready at my next salon visit!

Olive Goil: Makeup Artist Valerie Star

This week, I sat down with the delightful Valerie Star, who is a makeup artist extraordinaire. We met during Fashion Week at Caravan Stylist Studio, located in the Carlton hotel in New York City. She is like a magician with her mascara wand, so I naturally had to ask her for the 411 on beauty! I took plenty of notes because Ms. Star had plenty of sage  advice to give. Olive Live: Starting a Yoga Routine

It’s fairly well documented that I have been graced with the gift of elastic flexibility. I’ve been known to stretch myself to the limit…and then some! Once the ball dropped at midnight to ring in the start of 2013, I made a promise to myself that I was going to take better care of myself.  I’ve heard about the many physical and emotional benefits of yoga, and I’ve decided to give it a whirl. Whenever I embark on something new, I throw myself into it head first. My approach to yoga will not be any different!
